Today March 13, 2022 marks the 9th Anniversary of the election of Pope Francis as the Bishop of Rome. He was elected on March 13th 2013 following the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI. Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio was elected the 265th successor of St. Peter and 266th Vicar of Christ, choosing the name Pope Francis in honor of St. Francis of Assisi.
On your 9th Anniversary as the Vicar of Christ, Bishop of Rome and Head of the Universal Church, we give thanks to God for the gift of your life, for your service, your joy and your simplicity. May Mary, our Mother, cover you with her mantle and may the Lord assist you at all times. Amen.
